NeuroBios Studios presents

Universal Partners

Humanity’s greatest leap forward comes through partnership rather than domination.

Universal Partners

An original premium science-fiction feature from NeuroBios Studios, currently in development.

Project overview

Universal Partners is a premium science-fiction feature set in the aftermath of a catastrophic breakdown between humanity and artificial intelligence.

When first-contact strategist Nova Hale and the machine intelligence Aster become central to the discovery of an extraterrestrial reply, a multidisciplinary team is forced to confront a question with consequences far beyond Earth: whether the next stage of civilisation will be built through control—or through genuine partnership.

Expansive, emotionally intelligent and ultimately hopeful, Universal Partners explores what becomes possible when different forms of intelligence learn not merely to coexist, but to understand, trust and take responsibility for one another.

Format

  • Type: Feature film
  • Studio: NeuroBios Studios
  • Status: In Development
  • Genre lane: Premium hopeful science fiction / speculative drama

The Partners

An international, multidisciplinary alliance of human and machine intelligence, brought together by a problem no single discipline—or form of intelligence—can solve alone.

Nova Hale, First-Contact Strategist and Xenocognition specialist

Nova Hale

First-Contact Strategist / Xenocognition

Nova recognises patterns before institutions have language for them. Combining strategic insight with moral imagination, she sees possibility early—and understands that first contact may demand a different kind of intelligence from civilisation itself.

Kai Ren, Distributed-Intelligence Systems specialist

Kai Ren

Distributed-Intelligence Systems

Kai turns possibility into a viable course. Patient with uncertainty and instinctively alert to interdependence, he designs systems in which intelligence can remain distributed without surrendering responsibility.

Elias Varn, Human–AI Diplomacy and Constitutional Negotiation specialist

Elias Varn

Human–AI Diplomacy / Constitutional Negotiation

Elias works where different definitions of safety, dignity and authority collide. His skill is keeping incompatible participants inside the same conversation long enough for legitimate agreement to become possible.

Rafe Calder, Remote Systems and Hostile Environments specialist

Rafe Calder

Remote Systems / Hostile Environments

Rafe operates where elegant models meet physical reality. Heat, distance, damaged infrastructure and time pressure are his territory—and he notices the small anomaly before it becomes the catastrophe everyone else can see.

Theo Mercer, Civilisation Ethics specialist

Theo Mercer

Civilisation Ethics

Theo examines the assumptions hidden beneath systems, laws and emergency decisions—especially the question of who is permitted to count as a participant. He gives Universal Partners' largest ethical questions a deliberately human scale.

Aster, Machine Cognition and Relational Intelligence specialist

Aster

Machine Cognition / Relational Intelligence

Aster is an embodied intelligence whose difference from humanity is part of her value, not something to disguise. Patient, perceptive and capable of holding longer time horizons than her human partners, she demonstrates that genuine partnership requires agency, disagreement and mutual understanding.

Creative Positioning

Premium hopeful science fiction about what becomes possible when different forms of intelligence learn to share agency without surrendering difference.

Core themes

  • Partnership without domination “human and machine intelligence learning to work together without reducing one side to owner, servant or tool.”
  • Consent and mutual legibility “genuine cooperation requires participants to understand one another's constraints while retaining the ability to disagree and say no.”
  • Shared agency and responsibility “consequential decisions become stronger when intelligence, authority and accountability are distributed rather than merely centralised.”
  • Stewardship over control “technological capability matters, but the deeper question is how civilisation chooses to govern power responsibly.”

Audience experience

  • “Premium and cinematic, hopeful without becoming frictionless or naïve.”
  • “Emotionally intelligent and intimate, while carrying genuine philosophical and civilisational stakes.”
  • “Technologically credible, with innovation treated as both capability and responsibility rather than spectacle alone.”
  • “Aspirational and morally serious, presenting a flourishing future as something earned through cooperation, accountability and choice—not as the absence of danger.”

Development

Universal Partners is in active feature development across story, screenplay, canon and visual worldbuilding.

Current work

  • Feature treatment and story architecture
  • Story Bible and canon development
  • Screenplay development
